We also work remotely with clients throughout the GTA, making it convenient to manage your corporate tax filing from anywhere.
Corporate Tax Filing & Payment Deadlines
Most Canadian resident corporations must file a T2 Corporation Income Tax Return every tax year, even if the corporation has no tax payable. This includes inactive corporations and certain tax-exempt or non-profit corporations.
A corporation generally has to file its T2 return within six months of the end of its tax year. If the fiscal year ends on the last day of a month, the filing deadline is the last day of the sixth month following year-end. If the fiscal year ends on another day, the deadline is generally the same day of the sixth month following year-end.
The deadline for paying any corporate tax balance is different from the T2 filing deadline. Corporate taxes are generally due two months after the end of the tax year. Certain Canadian-controlled private corporations (CCPCs) may qualify for a three-month balance-due date if they meet the CRA's eligibility requirements.
For example, if a corporation has a December 31 fiscal year-end, its T2 return is generally due by June 30. The tax balance may be due by February 28, or by March 31 if the corporation qualifies for the three-month balance-due period.
Late payments may result in interest and penalties. We can help you prepare your corporate tax return, review your financial information, and meet your corporate tax filing obligations on time.
